This year, the Automobile and Fashion Museum (MAM) is taking an active role in seeking new ways of constant innovation and progress. Therefore, starting January 15, the museum will open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. In this manner, the Museum will bring its collection to the people of Málaga as well as tourists every day of the year, except for December 25 and January 1.
Since its debut in 2010, the collection owner, Joao Magalhaes and the Museum staff have been committed to offering visitors a unique experience; by introducing several pioneering proposals for the city as well as on a national level. Pet-friendly Day was conceived taking into account this creative aspect of their work. More and more leisure facilities are implementing a pet-friendly attitude. So far only visitors from the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) in Barcelona have enjoyed two days at the museum accompanied by their pets. The MAM takes things further by being the first cultural space allowing pets inside.
The Automobile and Fashion Museum is an advocate and agent of social change as it will allow pets inside every Monday; encouraging coexistence in a museum, a space where this has not yet been normalised. According to Patricia Rueda: “This is an initiative that encourages interrelation and defends the full integration of pets in society. We are aware that pet inclusion in cultural spaces is daring, however, we want to create a space where it is possible to coexist at the museum. In other European countries, pet accessibility to public places is higher than in Spain. Once again, the museum strives to be an example, thus normalising pet participation in public places.”
On Mondays, visitors accompanied by pets will receive a code of conduct that must be respected. For all purposes, the owner or the person in charge is responsible for any harm their pets may cause to other animals, people or the facility itself.
